Francis Yuen, PhD Student

I'm interested in how infants and children develop inter-group biases in social and moral evaluations. I am particularly interested in examining the relationship between emotion and sociomoral judgement.

Eddie Kim, MA Student

My research focuses on how we develop our sense of morality—from the very beginning of life through to childhood. I plan on studying newborns to explore the notion of a moral core and I look to also investigate how infants and children view moral and epistemic virtues when evaluating others. I plan to use a range of developmental methods and hope to integrate neuroimaging techniques into my work in the future.

Neslihan Oguz, MA Student

I received my Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Bogazici University, Istanbul. I am interested in the social interaction, the development of prosocial and moral behaviours. Specifically, which social cues infants use to make social evaluations and inferences?

Zohreh Soleimani, MA Student

I hold a BSc in Electrical Engineering and Communications and a MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Tehran, Iran. My thesis was on the Emerging Adulthood stage and its cultural implications in Iranian culture. I found out that one of the most important markers for emerging adults to perceive someone as an adult was social skills and being mature in relationships, which includes moral values and prosocial behavior such as being helpful or supportive for others. Since then moral development has become my passion. More specifically, I am interested in human sociomoral nature and the cognitive and emotional mechanisms underlying moral functioning in infants.

Raechel Drew, PhD Student

I'm most interested in understanding how prosocial and moral behaviours develop across infancy and early childhood. In particular, how do individual differences in cognitive development, temperament, and early experiences shape our interactions with others and what we think about the actions of others? How do socio-moral judgements exhibited in the first months of life relate to other aspects of social and moral development?
